Debbie Klaar began working for the family companies a few years after graduating from Fordham University at Lincoln Center. Being the eldest of four, bossiness just came naturally to her. Her first position was as administrative assistant to all office staff and then on to Accounts Payable, Payroll, and finally has double duty as Office Manager and Accounts Receivable as well as just general boss.
As Office Manager she designs and implements office policies while establishing standards and procedures - no matter how much they all kick and scream, organizes office procedures, supervises office staff, recruits, selects, trains and evaluates staff performance – (and fires them all weekly).
As Accounts Receivable Manager she tracks all billable projects, creates invoices, tracks and records payments, balances all accounts, sends statements and death threats to delinquent accounts and sometimes even goes to the bank with the deposits.
In addition to the following duties, she is at war with the NYC Parking Violations Bureau and was instrumental in implementing a class action suit against the City of New York along with other members of the M.S.C.A. (Mechanical Service Contractors Association.) Sadly, the suit was unsuccessful – you just can’t fight City Hall and win.
Although it may seem that she is always chained to her desk (it’s just a rumor), she is also a card carrying member of The Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity, The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Guild of Italian American Actors.
If that isn’t enough, Debbie is currently obtaining her L.E.E.D. Certification for Mechanical Installations.
